Raworth lecture: 'Doughnut Economics - from concept to practice'

Tuesday, 1 October, 2024

Almost a month has passed since University College Dublin conferred economist and Doughnut Economics author Kate Raworth(opens in a new window) with an honorary doctorate in economic sciences.

Several people have asked to see a video of the public lecture she gave in UCD that day, entitled, 'Doughnut Economics - from concept to practice', and we share it here.

In it she explains how last century's economic theories were not designed for contemporary problems like climate change - and how her doughnut economics model balances essential human needs and planetary boundaries.

The event sold out very quickly, with UCD's 220-seat Moore Auditorium packed. Another almost 400 people from 32 countries (!) tuned into the livestream. Our LinkedIn posts about Kate's visit had huge engagement and were seen by 10,145 of you. One national press interview with Kate has been published, another is pending.

Just a little numerical summary of her visit!
