UCD 49th in the world and No 1 in Ireland for sustainability, reports QS ranking

UCD is the most sustainable university in Ireland - and in the top 50 worldwide.
The latest QS World University Rankings for Sustainability, published today, sees University College Dublin ranked 49th overall. This is a rise of one place from 50 in 2024. UCD remains ranked number one in Ireland for the second consecutive year and ranks 28th in Europe among the 556 European institutions featured..
“I’m delighted that UCD has held its position in the top 50 worldwide and its number one spot in Ireland,” says Professor Tasman Crowe, Vice President for Sustainability at UCD.
“This ranking is the result of the commitment, vision and hard work of many academics, professional staff and students in UCD. It provides a strong foundation for further developing our contributions to sustainability through the integration of our research, education and operational activities and through our wider engagement and partnership.”
The QS World University Rankings is a portfolio of comparative college and university rankings compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds, a higher education analytics
firm.
This year QS has published rankings for 1,751 institutions, an increase of 348 on last year. Along with its top 50 position worldwide and number one placing in Ireland, UCD is ranked in the top 10 globally for equality.
