UCD Sustainability website launch to "inspire and inform action"
Thursday, 10 October, 2024
Yesterday we had the joint launch of the UCD Sustainability website and the UCD Sustainability Dashboard.
The dashboard is an interactive and user-friendly online mapping tool that has been developed by a multidisciplinary team of UCD students and academics. It captures UCD's sustainability infrastructure, services and activities and aims to advance understanding of UCD's efforts towards achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The UCD Sustainability website is intended as a one stop shop to showcase the diversity of thought leadership and action for sustainability being undertaken here and to help inspire and inform more, both within and outside UCD.
As well as laying out our mission, vision and governance for sustainability, the website presents a series of Action Areas which summarise and illustrate UCD’s research, education, campus initiatives and innovations in biodiversity, climate action, energy, water, transport, health, sustainable communities and food systems and others.
In the What’s New section you can read about upcoming events and recent awards, guest speakers and workshops, and other updates from the community.
There’s also a Get Involved tab signposting ways in which staff, students and the wider community can take action for sustainability in their own way and inviting comments, ideas and requests for help.
The Resources page is intended to make it easy to access key documents within UCD and also to become better informed and to explore pathways to impact through external organisations.
Ultimately we hope that the website can serve as a place for engagement and communication about sustainability to help move the dial in addressing the critical challenges it encompasses.
