What is an ePortfolio?
An academic e-portfolio is a collection created by the learner throughout their module or programme. It gathers any course related work such as essays, videos or feedback, and may also capture extracurricular activity, digital literacy or professional experience.
An ideal portfolio is not simply a body of evidence. Rather, it enables the user the ability to find, retrieve, review, update and disseminate the relevant evidence and accompanying commentaries. In this way the e-portfolio may be considered a tool to ‘enable assessment for learning’ (Barrett, 2004), where the learner is able to pause, reflect and deepen or develop their ability and understanding around a given topic or theme.
