Publishing feedback to students
After providing feedback and assigning a grade, you can choose to publish feedback immediately or save your feedback as a draft and release it at a later time. This enables you to revise and review submissions and publish your feedback to all students simultaneously. This may be particularly useful when assessing large cohorts as it enables you to save the feedback in draft format, this saves all feedback while hiding it from students.
When you have assessed all students’ submissions you can bulk publish all feedback to the entire cohort via the assignments submissions page (as shown).
How students view feedback
After providing feedback to students it is recommended to advise your students on where they can access that feedback. Students can view their feedback (and grades) in various ways from the assessment menu of their module via; assignments, feedback and progress and grades.
In addition, students will receive notifications within Brightspace of any unread or unseen assignment feedback (as shown).
Practical Tip
It is recommended to advise your students to set their instant notifications so they are alerted by email when their assignment feedback is released. There are two options they can tick to ensure that they receive notifications both when assignment feedback is updated and completed. In this way they will be able to read and consider their feedback in a timely manner.
As an instructor you will also be able to see when a student has viewed the feedback which you have provided. You can see this via the assignments tool by selecting the assignment you have published all feedback on, view by user, here you will be able to see which students have viewed the feedback and a timestamp showing precisely when the student opened his or her assignment feedback.
