TEL All Talk 1 - Creating an Integrated Learning Hub for a Stage 1 module with Brightspace's New Content Experience - Dr. Claire McGuinness, School of Information & Communication Studies

In this TEL All Talk Claire will share how she adopted the New Content Experience (NCE) in Brightspace to design a structured and seamless learning pathway that enhances student engagement and navigability. By integrating module content and assessment in a clear, intuitive and sequential format, she endeavoured to create a one-stop hub that supports both learning and evaluation. This approach proved effective in engaging a large cohort in her Stage 1 module IS10050 Digital Judgement, fostering a more interactive and cohesive learning experience.

TEL All Talk 2 - Exploring the use of mixed reality to teach equine radiography to veterinary undergraduate students - Dr. Antonella Puggioni, School of Veterinary Medicine

This TEL All Talk will outline how a custom made MR system was created depicting a virtual horse and radiographic equipment (x-ray tube and image detector) through the use of head mounted devices. The PhD project aims to investigate whether this system can be used to teach equine basic radiographic procedures to veterinary undergraduate students, enhancing the acquisition of practical skills and day-one competencies without exposure to ionising radiation.

TEL All Talk 3 - Generative AI Perceptions and Practices: Exploring student and lecturer engagement with AI tools in UCD School of Education -  Declan Qualter, School of Education

This TEL All Talk  will present findings from a small scale study exploring how student teachers and lecturers perceive and use AI tools for teaching and learning, and research activities within the ITE programmes. In addition, we will present some initial actions the UCD School of Education has taken to support the development of AI literacy for students and faculty.

TEL All Talk 4 - Lessons Learned from deploying AI Agents to support the teaching of sustainable operations and supply chain management -  Dr. Javier Amaya Silva, School of Business

This TEL Talk All explores how AI chatbots can enhance both teaching efficiency and student learning. Two AI agents were integrated into the course:

  • Course Assistant Chatbot – Designed to handle logistical and administrative queries, this chatbot allows students to quickly find essential course information, reducing time spent on non-academic tasks. It also frees me up to focus more on teaching and content delivery.
  • Tutor Chatbot – This agent provides subject-specific guidance while intentionally avoiding giving direct answers. Its goal is to scaffold students' critical thinking and support their independent problem-solving skills.
TEL All Talk 5 - GenAI as a feedback ally : Enhancing student feedback literacy in academic writing -  Dr. Stergiani Kostopoulou, UCD Centre for English and Global languages

This TEL All Talk explores the integration of generative AI (Gemini) to enhance feedback literacy among postgraduate students in an English for Academic Purposes module. The presentation demonstrates how Gemini, used in conjunction with peer, self, and teacher feedback, promotes active student engagement with feedback, improves critical evaluation skills, and fosters self-regulated learning. It also addresses the practical considerations and challenges of using AI in feedback design, including issues of academic integrity and the balance between AI and human judgment.
