Coming soon - The Tontine: A History
A new work by Dr Andrew McDiarmid which provides a history of the tontine will soon be published. The book, which is the first in a new series, 'Routledge Focus on Financial History’, with Routledge Publishing provides a concise look at the tontine's development. This includes a consideration of Lorenzo de Tonti, the man that gave the scheme its name, through its use by public and private groups, and on to the scandal which surrounded tontine life insurance in the the United States.
