Small practical actions to support the Ukrainian community - UCD talk
Wednesday, 27 April
On Wednesday 27 April 2022, UCD in the Community in collabortaion with Carron McKinney from (opens in a new window)www.irelandhelpukraine.com held an online Zoom chat to highlight ways in which people can support Ukrainian refugees. There is huge interest in supporting Ukrainian refugees in Ireland. But many people are under the impression that hosting refugees is the only way to help. Because many are not in a position to host a refugee they may feel there is little they can do. This is NOT the case. In our Zoom chat, Carron highlights many ways that people can help, including:
- Delivering a dinner to a family,
- Doing a conversational English session on Zoom,
- Bringing a family to the cinema or Dublin Zoo,
- Bringing a family out for a day/half day trip,
- Collecting a family from the airport and bringing them to their host family,
- Helping with cv preparation,
- Providing a bike, pram, buggy, etc.
Please see below a video of Carron's talk.
