Support for Ukraine
The UCD in the Community team along with other members of UCD student and staff came together in solidarity to provide various levels of support across the UCD campus to the Ukrainian Community between 2022 - 2023. Below is a brief overview of some of the supports which were offered.
Free English Language Classes
In addition to various workshops providing information on medical supports, local community supports, or job seeking support, free english classes were delivered to hundreds of Ukrainians travelling to UCD campus with five classes running Monday - Saturday for 3 hours per class. In July 2022, UCDVO and UCD in the Community came together to discuss how to best support the Ukrainian community who were living on/attending UCD campus. UCDVO along with 28 volunteers delivered 18 English Conversation Cafés to complement the formal English language lessons held in UCD.
UCD in the Community was honored to provide these classes to help empower the Ukrainian community to have a voice whilst in Ireland, through language acquisition support and development.
