Dublin Simon Appeal Thank You
€2,311 worth of vouchers donated to support those sleeping rough at Christmas.
UCD in the Community would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the members of the UCD university community who generously donated vouchers to UCD's annual appeal for Dublin Simon, your kindness is deeply appreciated and makes a difference for those struggling with homelessness. Together with the TY students from Presentation College Terenure, as part of their Localise volunteering programme, €2,311 worth of vouchers were donated.
The vouchers were handed over to Ciarán King, Dublin Simon Outreach Manager, on 18 December 2024, along with handmade cards made by the TY students. Ciarán explained that alot of the time, those sleeping rough refuse to engage in conversation. The vouchers help to support the Rough Sleeper Team as a tool of opening up communication and through this the Team are eventually able to offer additional supports and services. Ciarán also said the vouchers add the opportunity to buy their own clothing, in a size and colour that they want, which grants them a huge sense of dignity.
Once again, thank you to each and every member of the UCD community who participated in this annual appeal. Your generosity made the Christmas season a little brighter for those who need it most.
