Community-university partnerships make a difference.
They enrich our teaching and the student experience, as well as offering innovative ways of engaging communities with research. These collaborative partnerships provide real and meaningful benefits for all those involved.
Community-based organisations (CBOs) are nonprofit groups that work at a local level to improve life for residents of their community. The focus of CBOs is to build equality across society in all streams - health care, environment, quality of education, access to technology - the list goes on. CBOs are typically staffed by community members who experience first hand the needs within their neighbourhoods. Many CBOs rely on volunteers to continue to do the work they do, to provide services for the community. Staff and volunteers have similar interests and the same desire and willingness to help.
Many CBOs rely on students to volunteer their time to help. UCD in the Community encourages students to volunteer with CBOs. You can read about the work we do with community based organisations here.

Student Volunteer
(opens in a new window)StudentVolunteer.ie is an online tool that supports community-based organisations wishing to advertise volunteer opportunities in their communities. Students use this site as a tool to find current volunteer opportunities. It is a national volunteering database specifically created for higher education students to connect with local, national and international CBOs.
StudentVolunteer.ie is a useful resource, which allows you to list all your available volunteer opportunities. This is a national site so you may choose other colleges to advertise to at the same time.
Please see the guide below to help you register your organisation on the site.
