Project Objective
The Clinical Placements Strategy project targets the complex challenge of managing clinical placements for over 4,200 students amidst evolving regulatory standards and changing demographics. It aims to streamline placement processes, ensure consistent support across clinical settings, and strengthen UCD's collaboration with clinical sites to enhance experiences for both students and staff.
The project will develop a framework to improve the experiences and effectiveness of those involved in clinical placements. This will be achieved through the development of robust Clinical Placement Agreements, enhanced preparation and support mechanisms for students and sites (before, during, and after placements), and improved communication strategies. The project will employ a collaborative approach, involving key stakeholders to ensure that the strategy is inclusive, practical, and aligned with the needs of all parties involved.
This project is currently in its consultation phase. One of the primary goals of the project are formal agreements that outline the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of both UCD and clinical placement sites. The support framework will be enhanced via a comprehensive support system for students and sites, including pre-placement preparation, ongoing assistance during placements, and post-placement debriefs and feedback.
