About Us

URMAN, UCD Research Managers and Administrators Network, is the largest and longest established Community of Practice in UCD and was established in 2013 to deliver benefits to the University and the network members.

The URMAN(opens in a new window)Advisory Group provides oversight and is made up of 8-9 members drawn from the URMAN network, and there are a number of active(opens in a new window)Working Groups which work to support members:

  • Membership & Communications Working Group
  • Events Working Group
  • Career Development Working Group
  • AIREN Working Group

For more information about URMAN see(opens in a new window)Terms of Reference & Annual Reports

All personnel with a research manager or administrator role in UCD and all personnel in support units providing services to researchers are welcome to become members by emailing(opens in a new window)urmanexec@ucd.ieor through the(opens in a new window)membership form.Members are included in our google groups email list to receive information on upcoming events and membership updates.

We hold an informal coffee and chat welcome meeting for new members (this works well even virtually!) where we run through(opens in a new window)Induction Informationuseful to members and we host a number of networking and information(opens in a new window)Eventsduring the year.

All members also have access to the(opens in a new window)UCD Research Managers and Administrators Communityin Google Currents, which is a private forum for URMAN members where we post internal resources such as materials from URMAN events, and members can post news items, ask questions or start discussions.

Members may also like to join the(opens in a new window)LinkedIn URMAN network. This is a public platform where members can connect with other URMAN members and non-members – alumni are still welcome and we also allow non-URMAN members to join this network. It can be useful for publicising things with a broader reach, e.g. job vacancies or public-facing events. We’ve recently created a(opens in a new window)LinkedIn Learning Pathwaywith content for each competency area in theResearch & Innovation Management and Administration Job Family. You don’t have to be an URMAN member or URMAN LinkedIn Group Member to access this resource.
