Dr Emma O'Neill, Dr Robin Farrell and Andrea Dinean were project partners of a UCD Learning Enhancement funded project that co-designed a cross-discipline framework of learning outcomes to enhance evidence-based practice in health care curriculum.

Live Engagement & Attendance Project (LEAP)
Live Engagement & Attendance Project (LEAP)

Hosted by the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine, this project contributed to the university's digital-centric service enhancement strategy by designing and reshaping student support resources for its Student Advisory Service.

In January 2022, LEAP worked with UCD IT Services and D2L/Brightspace to develop a real-time, programme-level engagement monitoring tool on the DOMO platform. This tool was rolled out for the 2022-23 academic year to the College of Science and the College of Arts and Humanities, and is also available on request.

The project is continuing its cross-campus scaling, examining its effectiveness in identifying student disengagement and the feasibility of being incorporated into Student Advisers’ current engagement enhancement strategies. LEAP also examined the evolving nature of contemporary student engagement, assessing the potential contributions that engagement metrics can provide in collating and communicating a representative picture of students’ engagement.

Academic Advising - A Framework to Support Student-Academic Advising Interactions for Students on Clinical Work Placements in the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine

Developing the skills and strategies to self-regulate learning in a professional workplace is key to learning success on CEMS, therefore an academic advising initiative was designed and implemented. School based academic advisers were assigned students to provide individualised support and guidance to aid learning.

Funding was received from UCD through the HEA and the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning
