Grant Success for the Small Animal Medicine Team
Congratulations to Monica Augusto, Benoît Cuq and Kevin Murtagh (pictured below) from the UCD Veterinary Hospital Small Animal Medicine Team who were recently awarded two grants from the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine – Clinical Study Fund to improve diagnostic abilities and better understand disease mechanisms in companion animals.
The grants were awarded for innovation in minimally invasive ways to diagnose and monitor renal failure in dogs using urine samples, and for advancing knowledge on the mechanisms underlying sepsis in critically ill dogs. This important research will greatly improve the quality of care for patients in the UCD Veterinary Hospital and will also contribute to work in this area at a European level.
