Staff and Students Support Aoibhneas Initiative
Earlier this year, staff and students were invited to donate items for pamper packages for Aoibhneas. Aoibhneas is a shelter for women and children escaping domestic violence, abuse and sexual abuse. Originally set up in 1987, Aoibhneas now offers support 24/7, 365 days a year for those in need. In 2019, a Dublin woman started collecting donations of makeup, toiletries, hair products, jewellery and make-up bags, to make up little pamper bags for the new arrivals to the shelter. There was a huge response to the call in the Vet School - in total, three full-to-the-brim carloads of donations were delivered to Aoibhneas, just in time for St Valentine’s Day.
