Veterinary Biosciences Staff Visit Clinical Pathology Lab
Colleagues in our Veterinary Biosciences Section recently visited the Clinical Pathology Lab in the UCDVH Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories, for a tour and overview of the work taking place there. The tour, organised by Susan Gaines, Senior Technical Officer in the Biosciences Section, and facilitated by Ruth O’Connell and Louise Mooney, Chief Technical Officers in the Veterinary Pathobiology Section, was organised to give staff in the Biosciences Section a greater understanding of how the diagnostic lab works, an idea of sample types and tests performed and an opportunity to take some of this knowledge back to their own teaching and research, particularly for practical classes to pre-clinical Vet students.
Feedback from the participants was overwhelmingly positive and everyone came away with a much better understanding of what goes on in ‘that busy lab downstairs at the bottom of the stairwell!’ Colleagues particularly enjoyed meeting colleagues in another area who they might not engage with otherwise and future collaborations were discussed.
