Christopher Ulrich
Christopher Ulrich received his undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont in Political Science and Philosophy in 1985. After receiving his MVB (Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine) from University College Dublin in 2001, Christopher worked as a small-animal houseman/intern at the UCD Veterinary Hospital before moving to Massachusetts (MA). He practiced at several Boston area hospitals before making his way to Huron Veterinary Hospital in Somerville, MA in November 2006. Shortly after purchasing the practice in 2008, Christopher was named as one of the Best of Boston Veterinarians in March 2010.
Over his many years at Huron Veterinary, Christopher has maintained a strong mission of community-based veterinary medicine. His hospital works closely with local shelters and animal control departments to care for stray, unwanted, and owner-relinquished animals in the Boston area. Outside of his work in local communities, his public service has extended to communities abroad, sending donated equipment, materials, and medicine to a veterinary clinic in Mexico.
Christopher greatly enjoys mentoring students through intern/externships at his clinic and integrates educational opportunities for his technicians into his style of medical practice. He currently practices alongside two associate veterinarians, both of whom got their start in veterinary medicine as technicians at Huron.
Christopher takes a special interest in treating grouchy cats, garnering him the notable title of 'kitty zen master' from his clients. In his free time, he is an avid fisherman, skateboarder, snowboarder, and hiker. He spends his weekends on Cape Cod enjoying nature and the peace and quiet it provides. He lives locally in Cambridge, MA with his wife, son, and their four cats and dog. Eddie, Weezley, Mayble, and the infamous 3-legged Stan are the feline portion of his family, and Fergus is his small, cat-like terrier who was rescued by Christopher in 2014.
