Eoin Ryan Elected to the Veterinary Council of Ireland

Congratulations to Eoin Ryan from our Farm Animal Clinical Studies section on his election to the Veterinary Council of Ireland.  Twelve veterinary practitioners put their names forward for election to fill five vacancies on the Veterinary Council for 2018.  The count took place on 12 October, and Eoin, along with Rachel Brown, William Cashman, Edward Moffitt and Kevin Mc Connell, received the highest number of votes.  See (opens in a new window)http://www.vci.ie/Utility/News/2017/2017-Veterinary-Council-Election-Results for further details.

Eoin graduated from UCD in 2001, and initially worked in mixed, mainly farm animal practice, for Dundrum Veterinary Clinic in Limerick and Tipperary. In September 2002, Eoin took up a position as an Intern in Large Animal Clinical Studies here in UCD, which was followed by 3 years as a Large Animal Clinical Scholar.  He subsequently returned to farm animal practice in February 2007 with Mulcair Veterinary Clinic in Tipperary and Limerick, working there for 4 years.  In September 2010, Eoin began a Residency in Bovine Health Management in UCD.  He was appointed as a Lecturer in Integrated Farm Animal Health in 2012, and was conferred with a Masters in Veterinary Medicine (MVM) following research carried out into leptospirosis in the Irish suckler cattle population. Following the successful completion of the certifying examination of the European College of Bovine Health Management (ECBHM) in July 2013, Eoin qualified as a European specialist in bovine health management.  He currently works as a Lecturer in Farm Animal Clinical Studies in the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine, and his interests include bovine surgery, internal medicine, herd health and clinical pharmacology.
