Veterinary Medicine Class of 2003 Reunion
The UCD Veterinary Medicine Class of 2003 had a wonderful weekend last October, celebrating their 20-year reunion; the event took place over the weekend of 6 and 7 October, in the leafy surroundings of Ballsbridge.
Leslie Ann Jones, the event organiser, flew in from Virginia in the US for the occasion. She managed to get hold of everyone’s student photo and arranged to put these on name tags for the event. The name tags were really well received and guests thoroughly enjoyed seeing their hair and fashions from back in their college days!
The reunion consisted of a Friday evening drinks reception and canapes in the Penthouse of the iconic Horse Show House Pub – a venue familiar to many of our alumni! Saturday’s event was a bit more formal, with a glamorous dinner and drinks in the Herbert Park Hotel. They also had a photobooth for the occasion.
There was lots of reminiscing and reconnecting over the weekend, with over 40 classmates travelling from locations as far afield as Portland, Oregon and Rochester, NY, as well as the UK and all over Ireland, to take part in the festivities. It was a weekend which will be long remembered by all who attended.
When Leslie was asked if she had any advice for fellow alumni who might be interested in organising a reunion, she said, ‘Keep on top of everyone - they WANT to be there, but sometimes they just need a push. Also, please, everyone, keep the Alumni office current with your contact information - it sure makes these events a lot easier!’
Many thanks to Leslie for all of the hard work she put into planning and organising the reunion event.
Many UCD alumni reunions take place each year. They are a great opportunity for classmates to get together, reconnect and reminisce about their time spent at university. If you’d like to organise your own reunion, please email (opens in a new window)reunions@ucd.ie to learn more about how we can support you.
