Research
The Department has active research projects in inflammation; identification of novel targets for anti-inflammatory drugs; epithelial cell biology; colitis; mastitis; mucin biochemistry and mucosal immunology. Most of the ongoing projects involve collaboration with other Departments, Faculties or Institutions. Laboratory space and access to state of art technologies is a feature which is further supported by close liaison with the
Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research
as well as the Faculties of Medicine,
Science and Agriculture.
The Department has a policy of encouraging publication of results as well as communication of research findings at Research Meetings and Conferences. The Department has modern, purpose-built laboratories at the New School as well as laboratories and animal accommodation at the Lyons Field Station.
