Alexander Thein is a Roman historian based in the UCD School of Classics working on political history and civil war violence in the Late Roman Republic. He has published a co-edited volume Sulla: Politics and Reception with Alexandra Eckert (De Gruyter, 2019) and is nearing completion of a monograph, Sulla’s Proscriptions: Civil War Violence in the Late Roman Republic. Article publications have focused on civil war profiteering and the dynamics of interpersonal violence in the Sullan proscriptions.
