Irial Glynn is a lecturer in modern history at University College Dublin. He specialises in migration history and his current research includes a global history of boat refugees since 1945 and a comparative analysis of how migration has affected Irish society since 1945. He is the author of Asylum Policy, Boat People and Political Discourse: Boats, Votes and Asylum in Australia and Italy (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016) and recently co-edited a special issue (with Marlou Schrover and Teuntje Vosters) of the Journal of Migration History that examined NGOs and West European Migration Governance since 1860. He completed his PhD at the European University Institute in Florence. Before coming to UCD, he taught at Leiden University (2014-2020) and has held fellowships at Oxford University and New York University.
