Jochen Böhler is a research fellow at the Imre Kertész Kolleg at Jena University, Germany. His research covers the history of war, violence, and oppression in the twentieth century. From 2000 to 2010, he was a research fellow at the German Historical Institute in Warsaw, the International Institute for Holocaust Research at Yad Vashem, Jerusalem, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies in Washington, DC.
Dr. Böhler's monographs on German war crimes in Poland in 1939 have earned him international recognition and won numerous awards. He is currently working on a book about post-war violence in Central and Eastern Europe between 1917-1923.
