Juicer Social Media Feeds

Introduction

This page sets out the eligibility criteria for an aggregated social media feed on the UCD Juicer enterprise account. The standard number of connected social media sources and update frequency are outlined below along with guidelines on what social media accounts can be connected. To apply for a feed you can (opens in a new window)complete the application form here.

Feeds

In Juicer a feed refers to a stream of content that is automatically aggregated from multiple social media platforms and displayed on a website. Juicer allows users to pull content from platforms like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, X and others into one unified feed.

Sources

In Juicer a source refers to the individual social media platform or account from which content is pulled into the aggregated feed. Users can connect multiple sources to a feed.

Eligibility

UCD colleges, schools, units, approved academic centres & institutes that are using the Design Library template in Terminalfour are eligible for a feed on the enterprise account. The free version of Juicer should not be used as it includes advertisements. If you are currently using the free version please check your eligibility and apply for a feed on the enterprise account. Eligible entities can be found on the website supports framework page linked below.

Feed Settings

The cost of the Juicer enterprise plan is determined by two factors: the number of sources per feed and how frequently they are updated. To control the cost of the enterprise  account, IT Services have set limits on the number of sources and update frequency on each feed.

Sources Per Feed

There is a maximum of 3 sources per feed as standard. If your feed necessitates an exception to this limit, please provide an explanation on the application form. More sources may only be allowed in exceptional circumstances.

Update Frequency

The standard update frequency for feeds is set at once per day. If your feed demands more frequent updates, please outline the specific reasons on the application form. More frequent feed updates may only be allowed in exceptional circumstances.

Feed Design

While it's currently not possible to set a universal style for all enterprise account feeds, it is important to ensure that feeds are accessible and have a consistent visual style. All new feeds will be set up according to the guidelines below and feed design should only be edited to align existing feeds with these guidelines.

You can check the accessibility of the feed by reviewing the page where the feed is embedded with Silktide.

Social Media Sources

Account Type

When connecting a source please ensure it is a social media account of your college, school, unit, research institute or centre. Personal social media accounts should not be displayed on feeds.

Post Frequency

Only social media sources that are updated relatively frequently should be connected.  The social media account should be updated with a new post at least once every two weeks for it to be included in a feed.

We will review feeds on the Juicer enterprise account each quarter and notify users of any sources that need to be reconnected or if a social media account is not updated frequently we will contact the customer about removing it.

Reconnecting Sources

If you connect a Facebook  account or Instagram business account the authentication will expire every 60 days and the account will need to be reconnected manually by logging into Juicer. If you were the person who connected the account initially you should receive an email reminder to do this.

Post Moderation

Juicer allows you to control what appears on your feed with its moderation tools. The tools allow you to send posts to a moderation queue based on the content. It can help you avoid duplicate content displaying from multiple social media accounts. Below are some examples of useful moderation features for your feed.

Send All Posts to Moderation

With this option enabled, new posts will not automatically go to your live feed. Instead, you must first manually approve them from your moderation queue.

Prevent Duplicate Posts

Juicer will remove any post that has the same text as another post from a different source. If you wish to set a priority for what source is chosen for duplicate posts, you can set the order of sources in the 'Social Media Sources' section in the sidebar by using the drag & drop functionality.
