Posted 2 December, 2024

The (opens in a new window)UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School has been named Ireland’s leading business education and research school by the (opens in a new window)Financial Times.

For the ninth consecutive year, UCD Smurfit has been ranked among the (opens in a new window)top 30 business schools in Europe, and has again outperformed its Irish peers.

The school is ranked 21st, improving on its position of 24th last year, and is one of three from Ireland to feature in the latest FT rankings.

“Our College strategy outlines our vision and ambition to advance as a European-leading centre of excellence for rigorous, relevant, business education and research,” said (opens in a new window)Professor Anthony Brabazon, Dean of UCD College of Business.

"This ranking continues to highlight UCD Smurfit School’s enduring status as one of an elite group of global business educators.”

“Supporting this, we are undertaking significant and on-going investment in new faculty, in our physical and digital infrastructure, and in student services in order to provide a truly transformational educational environment for our students."

Considered the 'ranking of rankings' in terms of measuring business schools’ quality and a range of ranked programmes, the FT European Business Schools Rankings take into account a range of programmes that feature in separate global FT rankings each year: Masters in Management, MBA, Executive MBA and open and custom executive education courses.

Included in the 2024 assessment were a number of UCD Smurfit School globally ranked programmes including, the (opens in a new window)Full-Time MSc in International Management, which is ranked 28th, the (opens in a new window)Executive MBA which is ranked 81st  and the (opens in a new window)Full-Time MBA which is ranked 91st .

(opens in a new window)UCD Smurfit Executive Development achieved a FT ranking of 46th globally for its Open Enrolment programmes and 33rd for Custom programmes.

The individual programme rankings take into account graduate outcomes, including salary and career progress, as well as factors such as quality of research and international and gender diversity of students and faculty.

France's Isead topped this year's FT's European Business Schools Ranking, jumping sharply from its position last year.

The French school rose from 18th place in 2023, overtaking past winners HEC Paris and London Business School, which were pushed into second and third place respectively.
