EU MSCA SE RE-ROUTE Project Kicks Off to Design Futuristic Multi-Modal Transportation Platform

Dublin, Feb 3rd, 2023 - The EU MSCA SE RE-ROUTE project was launched at University College Dublin (UCD), with ten partners from Europe, the UK, and the US. This consortium is set to design and develop a futuristic, multi-modal transportation platform that utilizes cutting-edge technologies in  AI and Edge Communications. The project is funded by the European Commission under HORIZON-MSCA-SE-2021 call, with a grant of €671 600.

The vision of the project RE-ROUTE, is to facilitate access to safe, affordable, and accessible transportation systems for all citizens, utilizing various modes of transport. The project aims to implement a distributed localized decision-making model at the network edge, using integrated intelligent multi-modal transport infrastructure.

The project coordinators, Assistant Professors Fatemeh Golpayegani and Nima Afraz from the School of Computer Science at University College Dublin and Funded investigators at SFI CONNECT Research Centre lead a team of 24 researchers from 7 countries, including four industrial partners, six universities, and research and technology centers. With a wide range of expertise, this remarkable consortium is well-equipped to tackle the challenges of designing an advanced transportation platform that has the potential to revolutionize the way people move around. The project is set to run for four years, during which the consortium will conduct research, develop the platform.

The EU MSCA SE RE-ROUTE project is an excellent example of international, multi-disciplinary, multi-sectoral research and training collaborations that aim to train and exchange knowledge in this multidisciplinary research field.
