This text contains editorial emendations of MS readings. For the mark-up of these emendations, see sub heading Correction below. In the HTML format, these emendations are encoded as hyperlinks. Clicking the links will display the MS readings in a pop-up window.
Encoding principles:
Correction
In his printed edition, O’Nolan has in one instance emended the reading of the MS. This emendation is encoded in TLH by means of the <corr> tag with two attributes, namely the “sic” attribute, indicating the reading of the MS, and the “resp” attribute, indicating editorial responsibility. Editorial responsibility is indicated in TLH as follows: “p” indicates print editor and “e” the editor of the electronic edition. TLH has not made any alterations to O’Nolan’s text.
Normalisation
This text has not been normalised.
Quotation
No quotations occur.
Hyphenation
The hyphenation of the printed original has been retained.
Tags declaration:
- The <expan> tag is used to encode text printed in italics to indicate editorial expansions of manuscript abbreviations.
- The <supplied> tag is used to encode additions to the text made by the print editor or the editor of the electronic text. The “resp” attribute indicates the source of the supplied text: “p” indicates print editor and “e” electronic editor.
