In 2012, the works of James Joyce finally came out of copyright and UCD found a suitably creative way to mark the special period of time from his birthday on February 2nd until Bloomsday on June 16th, with a journey through his quotes. Each day, the twitter feed @UCDJamesJoyce shared a new phrase, some familiar, some overlooked, with followers joining in via the #joycequotes hashtag. To conclude the project, an illustrated map of Dublin was created, with the quotes woven around the streets and landmarks of Joyce’s city. This map is available to download below and can be explored through video here.
The final quote in the project, on Bloomsday 16 June 2012 was: “A way a lone a last a loved a long the”, from Finnegans Wake
