Environmental Engineering Research Group

In the area of Environmental Engineering research projects have dealt with, processes for the elimination of various pollutants from wastewater and waste gas streams, the preparation of ultra-pure solvents for environmental analysis, and hazardous waste characterisation, treatment and disposal. The purification of complex solvent mixtures has been investigated to establish a pilot-scale procedure for the investigation of potential separation schemes. During 2002 the Department was involved with a major national study on the “Health and Environmental Effects of Landfilling and Incineration of Waste”. The Report was commissioned by the Health Research Board on behalf of the Department of the Environment and Local Government.
