Fire Juggling
Think of a Circus prop, any prop, small or large, mobile or stationary. The likelihood is that if you can think of it, someone has thought up a way to perform with it on fire.
Fire adds an element of assumed danger to the audience, it draws a crowd during night-time performances, it keeps you warm during outdoor performances, and let's face it; it can look damn cool.
Due to the hard work and perseverance of past Committee members, UCD Juggling Society was recently approved by the college for on-campus Fire Juggling.
But what does that mean? It means that, so long as we adhere to strict regulations and safety protocol, we're insured to host Fire Shows on campus!
Doesn't it sound like fun? I'll bet by now you're chomping at the bit to learn how you can get involved in Fire Juggling. Well first you need to demonstrate your aptitude with that prop to our Committee. Have a look at our How To page for details on how to get involved with Fire Juggling in UCD.
Being a relatively small society and with the in-depth training regime laid out in our agreement with the college, we currently have very few members who are of a sufficient standard to perform at a UCD Fire Show, however we're getting stuck right in to training people up.
Our hope is to train up enough members to have our Fire Shows become a regular night-time sight on-campus. This will not only help to raise awareness of the society and entice thrill-seeking new members by demonstrating some of our skills but also providing a professional-standard performance to the students of UCD.
If you weren't already interested in learning the Circus Arts, Fire Juggling may just have sealed the deal for you. Come along to our sessions on Monday to find out more!
