Dublin Circus Project's The Barn

DCP Membership is €1, any person using the space is required to register as a DCP member.
Shows/Renegades tend to be €5 entry or free for monthly members. The Barn is a not for profit organisation and all income from events and membership is used for the day-to-day running, with any additional money going towards upgrading the space.The Barn Membership fees are:

Other: | This is an open space for all those with a passion for Circus arts.
This is a monumental occasion for the Circus Arts in Dublin, as for the first time, people with a love for Circus will have somewhere they can develop their creativity, share ideas and learning techniques. The Barn will be managed by the members of the Dublin Circus Project who will use the space to train.
It is equipped for acrobatics, in addition to areas of soft and hard wood flooring for movement and dance.

DCU Circus Arts
When: | 2pm-5pm every Wednesday of term with sporadic extra workshops/events. |
Where: | The Minor Sports Hall in Dublin City University, Dublin 9 (see map). |
Who: | A Dublin City University society run by a Committee of students. |
Fee: | Annual sign-up fee of €4 if you sign up in Semester 1 or €2 if you sign up in Semester 2. |
Other: | Typical activities include (but are not limited to) juggling, diabolo, unicycle, poi, hoop, performance, balance, acrobalance, stilts, devil sticks, whip and staff. |

DIT Circus and Juggling Society
When: | 6pm-9pm every Wednesday of term with extra events every now and then. |
Where: | Mount Carmel Secondary School Hall, Dublin 1 (see map). |
Who: | A Dublin Institute of Technology society runs by a Committee of students |
Fee: | Annual sign-up fee of €2. |
Other: | Set up in 2001 with the intent of spreading the joy of Circus Arts to DIT students, after over a decade the society has become one of the most active and long-standing socieities in DIT. They hold weekly workshops in various Circus Skills ranging from acrobatics to unicycle taught by some of the best instructors in Dublin, if not Ireland. Along with workshops they go on a number of trips to Circus Festivals throughout the year and are one of the hosts to the Dublin Circus Festival. No experience or co-ordination required. |

Dublin Community Circus
When: | From 6.30pm, Wednesday nights. |
Where: | Grainstore Youth Arts Facility, Cabinteely, Dublin 18 (see map). |
Who: | A group of Circus Arts practitioners from Co. Dublin. |
Fee: | None. |
Other: | Their aim is to bring together local Circus artists/practitioners of all ages to put together a core team who will promote Circus as an alternative form of exercise & physical education. They aim to bring Circus Skills to schools, community centres and youth groups across the county, to develop and promote Circus Arts as an innovative and non-competitive activity. They work closely with the Galway Community Circus who have been operating successfully for over ten years and teach a broad selection of disciplines to young children, toddlers and adults. They also provide a number of Outreach Programmes to the wider community. Both organisations are non-profit and operate on government and private funding sources. Any money raised goes towards necessary fees, rent and equipment costs. They hope to collect enough to help other arts groups who may also be struggling. |

Dublin University Juggling & Circus Skills Society
When: | 7pm-10pm Tuesday nights during term with sporadic Fire Shows. |
Where: | Goldsmith Hall, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin 2 (see map). |
Who: | A Trinity College Dublin society run by a Committee of students. |
Fee: | Annual sign-up fee of €2. |
Other: | It essentially performs two tasks. Firstly, it promotes and facilitates the development of juggling and circus skills among beginners and skilled enthusiasts. Secondly, it holds events to enable students to meet other enthusiasts and become part of the juggling and circus skills community. |

Mabos Sessions
When: | 6pm-10pm Thursday nights although sometimes 6pm-10pm Monday nights instead (depends on availability). |

Who: | The space is rented by a group of Circus Practitioners from the Dublin area. |

Other: | Everyone interested in practicing, learning and teaching Circus Skills is welcome. |

NCAD's Circus & Performance Society
When: | Do not have regular meets but hold workshops which usually give preference to NCAD students but do take others. |
Where: | Depends on workshop. |
Who: | National College of Art and Design society run by a Committee of students. |
Fee: | None but some of the workshops require fees. |
Other: | From juggling to acrobatics, costume design to dance, the NCAD Circus/Performance/Physical Theatre Society help develop the skills of anybody interested. So whether you're a beginner or an experienced veteran, you are most definitely welcome! |

UCD Juggling Society

Where: | The steps of the Atrium of the Old Student Centre, in University College Dublin, Dublin 4 (see map). |
Who: | A University College Dublin society run by a Committee of students. |
Fee: | Annual sign-up fee of €2. |
Other: | UCD’s Juggling Society caters to those with an interest in learning and improving circus skills. Activities include juggling (balls, contact, clubs, and rings), diabolo, spinning plates, staff, hula hooping, poi, slacklining, ballooning, face painting, acrobalance and unicycling. Circus arts are a fun and mentally-stimulating way to exercise which can improve balance, coordination and dexterity. People of all skill levels are welcome and encouraged to ask for advice. The society is based around skill-sharing, meaning it is extremely social. Members are very welcoming, colleges and circus communities intermingle and it’s very easy to make lasting friends from a variety of backgrounds. The circus community in Ireland is very inclusive with meets continuing into the summer months and weekend-long trips to circus conventions in Tralee, Belfast, Dublin and Galway, where you can immerse yourself in circus arts, see some of the world’s best performers as well as take part in professional workshops. |
