Democracy and the Rule of Law

Democracy and the Rule of Law is a research cluster that investigates tensions between legislative, executive and judicial powers and the extent to which legal institutions can contribute to the protection of civil liberties, the prevention of corruption, and the establishment of a just and accountable democratic order. At UCD, there are particular research strengths on the relationship between democracy and the rule of law within the European Union.
