Michael Ignatieff public lecture at UCD

Public lecture with Professor Michael Ignatieff

Public lecture with Professor Michael Ignatieff from the Central European University. The lecture topic was ‘What if Democracy’s Greatest Enemy is Democracy Itself?’

Michael Ignatieff is the former leader of the Liberal Party of Canada (2008-2011), serving in opposition against the Harper government. President of the Central European University (2016-2021).

He was the President of the Central European University (2016-2021) during the period when the Hungarian government pursued legislation to make the CEU's operation in the country impossible, putting him in direct international confrontation with Victor Orban. In 2019, he was awarded the Dan David Prize for his work in defending democracy

Earlier this year, he gave a fascinating interview with Rory Stewart and Alastair Campbell on the freely available podcast "The Rest is Politics".
